Stainless Steel Homebrew Fermenter

It was a good weekend for me!  I added a 14 gallon stainless steel conical fermenter for homebrewing and home winemaking to my arsenal!  Over the last few years, I have transitioned from extract homebrewing to all grain homebrewing and been slowly upgrading my homebrew gear.  One of the last pieces of equipment that I have been wanting to upgrade has been my fermenters.  I have used just about everything out there, from buckets to carboys.  I prefer fermenting in glass to plastic, but ultimately I knew that I wanted to use stainless steel. The only problem was that I really did not want to spend $1800 on a fermenter!

Recently I had come across some ads for stainless steel conical fermenters at about 25% of that price so I figured I would check into it, an do a little research into the quality of the units and consider making a purchase if it all checked out.  The best fermenters that I could find in that price range were by SS BrewTech and they looked incredible.  They have great user quality ratings, all of the features of the high end Blichmann stainless steel conical fermenters but are just a fraction of the price.

So I decided to make my purchase and landed one of these 14 Gallon Stainless Steel Conical Fermenters for just $495. I received my order in about two days. It was packed very well and I was pleased with the documentation that reviewed some really basic assembly and how to clean it prior to its first use.  The welds were all clean, it felt very sturdy, was easy to setup and looked incredible.  Here are some of the features of the SS Conical Fermenter:

  • 60° cone for clean yeast harvesting and sediment removal

I plan on fermenting my first batch of beer in it about 2 weeks from now and I am really exited.
